Fishing is off the "hook!"

Someone call 911. Chinook Salmon fishing for the southern half of the Georgia Strait is on fire! We have been getting so many salmon to the boat that we lose count. The salmon have been caught from 80' to 150' and biting on a variety of spoons and hootchies. Many veteran guides have not recalled this kind of fishing in decades. For instance we had a 30 fish day over at Thrasher Rock - 1 quad, 1 triple and 4 doubles and we kept 5 looking for a larger one to complete our limit. On the south end of Bowen Island this past week, we are having 20 fish days to the boat plus numerous long line releases. A lucky angler with fellow guide Guy Dale managed a 28 lb'r on April 27th. The chinooks have to be 24.5" to be legal and many of the fish are just under but the keepers are 10-20 lb range. Lingcod fishing opened yesterday and jigging for these great tasting targets can be arm busting and they make for an enjoyable complement to salmon trolling. Prawning and crabbing remains very good but the prawning will soon come to end soon as the commercial prawners get their opening mid May. Commercial crabbing begins in June so if you're thinking to get some prawns and crabs with your fish, you should book a charter soon. "Lets Go Fishing!"
