Mid October Fishing Report

They say all good things must come to an end. Yes this past summer salmon fishery was excellent considering that the Pink salmon never materialized and the government had to shut it down due to poor returns. The chinooks were plentiful and the endless sunshine made for some exciting days for my many valued guests. Basically the Capilano fishery will be over with the rain forecast for this week. The last remaining Chinooks and Coho will head up the river to spawn and complete their lifecycle. There is still some Chum salmon to be had off the South Arm till early November. Now is the time to think about booking a charter and target the winter feeder chinooks starting mid December. These chinooks are the best tasting in my opinion and they range from 7 lbs - 15 lbs. As an added bonus to your day, I drop the prawn and crab traps to top off your cooler. I’m very flexible on start times and dates because of weather and dress appropriately for crisp glorious days up Howe Sound or across to the Gulf Islands. LET’S GO FISHING!
